Well, this has been a week of firsts. Today I participated in my first Public Politcal Protest, a long with thousands of other Canadians, and many across the world, it would seem. It certainly was cold, the article was not lying. We were outside marching around or listening to speaches for nearly 3 hours, in -14C windchill weather. We were very cold by the end, let me tell you. My hands took a while to regain normal functioning. But, it felt good to be out there with so many likeminded people, making a statement of solidarity with so many others. Power to the People!
Part of me feels like this is what university life is really about. I am getting involved here in Kingston, in ways that I never did at Laurier. Part of me thinks between the business students and the engineering students, Waterloo was a more conservative town, but I know that is not true. I just wasn't involved in the ways I am here. I have run into some really great people here, and I am so glad I came. This is turning out to be a great university experience for me. Who would think, with five years of university under my belt, that I would have so much more to discover here in Kingston. But there is always more to discover my friends. :)
